Magyar Writer László Krasznahorkai Awarded Nobel Prize in Literature

László Krasznahorkai has received the prestigious Nobel in Literary Arts.

This Magyar writer was honored "for his gripping and visionary collection that, during cataclysmic fear, asserts the strength of literature."

The author has produced five works of fiction and received numerous additional writing prizes, such as the 2015's Man Booker International Prize, and the 2013 finest rendered book honor in Fiction for his first novel Satantango, a postmodern piece about the end of the globe.

Krasznahorkai is the 2nd Magyar novelist to obtain the prize after the deceased Imre Kertesz, who won in the year 2002.

Originating in 1954, the author gained fame in 1985 when he issued "Satantango", which he transformed for the big screen in the mid-1990s.

The monochrome movie, by Hungarian film-maker Béla Tarr, is famous for its 7-hour running time.

Nobel committee characterized the writer as "an exceptional sweeping writer in the Central Europe heritage that spans via Franz Kafka to Thomas Bernhard, and is characterised by absurdism and grotesque extremity."

His 2021 book Herscht 07769 has been called as a great present-day Deutsch book, owing to its exactness in portraying the land's societal unrest prior to the pandemic.

It's a portrayal of a contemporary village in Thüringen, the Federal Republic of Germany, afflicted by social anarchy, murder and fire-setting.

"Gentle titan Florian is an ward, raised by a neo-Nazi who has trained him as a graffiti cleaner.

"The Boss, a Johann Sebastian Bach enthusiast, is incensed that someone is applying canine insignias across the monuments to the celebrated musician in their east German municipality."

One review remarked it as "therefore grim from start to end."

His latest ironic novel, Zsömle Odavan, returns to Magyarország.

The main character is 91-year-old Uncle Kada, who has a hidden claim to the throne but has taken extreme measures to fade away from the planet.
